On Monday evening the cast and crew of feature film ‘Essex Boys: Law of Survival’ took to the red carpet at Vue Cinema, Dagenham for the official premier. Together with invited guests, we managed to take up the majority of the 316 seats in screen 1 at the cinema. The evening kicked off with a few words from director and producer Steven M. Smith and producer and lead actor Chris Bell, who praised everyone for their hard work and informed us of the overall budget with which the feature was made, an impressive £22, 000 (a tiny sum). The order of play was an advertisement of product placement in the film, the film itself, deleted scenes and then of course, (everyone’s favourite) the bloopers! Which, myself and others thought we had managed to avoid…

I must say, as this was my screen acting debut and first ever premier, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I wore an outfit designed and made by talented designer and good friend, Karl Bowman from my home county, Cumbria. Just before entering the auditorium, nerves were starting to kick in. I was approached by a lovely woman called Sara Collins who was interviewing the cast throughout the night. She told me how moved she was by my performance and that I had managed to make her cry… needless to say the nerves went into overdrive upon hearing such praise, and utter terror that this is it!

The film itself, was outstanding. To have been made with so little money really is something to be admired. I thought everyone did a fantastic job. It is a film made from passion and dedication and is so different to all the other Essex Boys films currently on the market. The story of Danny (Chris Bell) and Amy (Abbie Steele) sets the tone of the whole film and it immediately becomes apparent that this is a character driven piece. The storyline is strong and delves deeper into the lives of the characters, taking us on a different journey following the Range Rover murders at Rettendon.

The official cinema release date is 11th September, 2015. Selected cinemas across the UK will be showing the film (details of dates, times and venues will be released shortly, keep an eye on the official Facebook page Essex Boys: Law of Survival official Facebook fan page) before the DVD release on 21st September, 2015.
