Who do you think you are kidding Mr Hitler, if you think old England’s done? Dad’s Army has got to be one of my all time favourites! From as long ago as I can remember, this sitcom has been a part of our family time together, it is comedy at its best and I can’t recommend it enough as my watch of the month for May. I never get bored of watching the episodes again and again as it reminds me of so many happy times together with my family on the farm after a hard days work. We would watch it at meal times in the kitchen or together on an evening in the living room, especially at Christmas time, when we were all cosied up around the fire with cats on knees and pyjamas on.
Dad’s Army is set in WWII England with the Walmington-on-Sea Homeguard, a group of local defence volunteers who are either too old, or not able to join up to fight across the channel. The sitcom offers light relief for what was an extremely challenging and dangerous time. It makes for easy, enjoyable and downright daft viewing, perfect for cheering up a gloomy day or watching with friends and family.
Don’t panic! You can pick up a few episodes on BBC i-player or the boxset is available online or in stores.
